Mirza brings a strategic vision in community empowerment, public policy, private sector and international business development services. He most recently chaired the HR and Remuneration Committee and was a member of the Board of The Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance in Afghanistan: the First Microfinance Bank Afghanistan (FMFBA), the country’s largest provider of microcredit and commercial services.
His was the Director and CEO of Export Promotion Agency of Afghanistan and has served in various public service roles, including Policy Advisor to Afghanistan’s Ministry of Finance and Deputy Director of Research and Policy at the Afghanistan Investment Support Agency. Mirza also played a key role in establishing Focus Humanitarian Assistance in Afghanistan right after collapse of the Taliban, which helped in the voluntary repatriation of around 50,000 Afghan refugees from Pakistan and Iran during 2002.
Mirza earned his MBA from Brandeis International Business School in Boston and received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance from the American University of Central Asia.
